Texas Crim.Wallace Chappell Slaton, Appellant v. the State of Texas

December 9, 19981998 Tex. Crim. App. LEXIS 163

The court affirmed dismissal of Slaton’s appeal because his notice of appeal was untimely and the court of appeals therefore lacked jurisdiction. The 1997 amendment to Rule 2 did not change the rule that an appellate court cannot use its suspension power to extend the time for perfecting a criminal appeal.
