Wyoming Supreme Court
In the Matter of the Adoption of Sso. Rb, (respondent) v. State of Wyoming, Department of Family Services, and Fh…
December 5, 2017406 P.3d 723
Summary
The Wyoming Supreme Court affirmed the order striking RB's appearance and objection to the adoption of SSO. RB could not use the adoption proceeding to collaterally attack the prior termination of his parental rights because the record did not show a lack of personal jurisdiction on its face, and he therefore lacked a legally protectable interest in the adoption. The court held that a parent whose rights have been terminated may not object to or otherwise participate in the child's adoption.
