The Supreme Court of New Hampshire reversed the defendant's conviction for unlawful possession of marijuana, holding that state troopers lacked probable cause to seize a partially smoked hand-rolled cigarette observed in the ashtray of his car during a stop for an uninspected vehicle.

August 31, 1983123 N.H. 750
The Supreme Court of New Hampshire affirmed the trial court’s jury instructions and special verdict, holding that RSA 507:7-a permits a plaintiff in a multiple‑defendant negligence action to recover so long as the plaintiff’s negligence is not greater than the aggregate negligence of all defendants.
The court held that the defendant’s support and alimony obligations should not have been reduced because his diminished income resulted from his own criminal conduct and he retained a valuable interest in the marital home.
