Summary

The court held that the Texas divorce decree was entitled to full faith and credit as to the wife's property and support rights because Texas had personal jurisdiction over her and its property-division scheme protected the same support right as Virginia alimony. Accordingly, Virginia could not award permanent alimony after the Texas decree, although it had to determine any alimony overpayments and could independently determine child support because the children remained in Virginia and their welfare was paramount. The judgment was affirmed in part, reversed in part, and remanded. No separate opinions were filed.
