Summary

The Court affirmed the judgments after concluding that obtaining real-time cell-site location information constituted a search under both the Fourth Amendment and the Rhode Island Constitution, but that exigent circumstances justified the warrantless acquisition in this case. It also upheld the admission of eyewitness-identification and habit evidence and declined to disturb the probation-violation adjudication. Justice Robinson, concurring in part and dissenting in part, would have avoided deciding the constitutional question concerning real-time cell-site location information.
