Supreme Court of Pennsylvania

In the Interest of: G.G.B., Appeal of: J.B.

March 26, 2026

Summary

The Supreme Court held that the Juvenile Act and Rule 1300 require venue in a dependency proceeding to be limited to the county where the child resides or is present, and because G.G.B. was neither residing nor present in Allegheny County, the venue was improper; the Court also affirmed that the trial court had subject‑matter jurisdiction. Accordingly, it vacated the Superior Court order and remanded for further proceedings.
