Summary

The court affirmed Krall’s murder conviction, holding that the circumstantial evidence, viewed in the light most favorable to the verdict, permitted a rational jury to find beyond a reasonable doubt that he intentionally or knowingly caused Queirolo’s death. It also held that the district court’s jury instructions, considered as a whole, accurately stated the law and did not require an additional instruction directing the jury to exclude every reasonable hypothesis of innocence. The court expressly rejected and overruled prior decisions to the extent they required that additional circumstantial-evidence instruction when the jury is properly instructed on reasonable doubt.
