Supreme Court of North Carolina

State v. Beck

December 15, 2023

Summary

The Court held that the evidence, viewed favorably to the State, was sufficient for a rational juror to find that defendant participated in separate conspiracies to commit armed robbery and felonious breaking or entering. The evidence supported an initial plan to rob the victim outside her apartment and a later agreement to use a break-in to accomplish the robbery. The Court reversed the Court of Appeals and directed reinstatement of the armed-robbery conspiracy conviction; it did not reach the sentencing issue.
