Supreme Court of North Carolina
In re G.C.
April 6, 2023
Summary
The Court reversed the Court of Appeals and held that the trial court's findings supported adjudicating Glenda as a neglected juvenile. The findings showed that Glenda lived in the same home where her infant sibling died under circumstances indicating inadequate supervision and unsafe sleeping conditions, and that her parents had received instruction about proper sleeping arrangements. The Court further held that a trial court need not make a specific written finding of substantial risk of impairment if its written findings otherwise support the neglect conclusion.
