Supreme Court of North Carolina
In Re A.e.s.h.
March 18, 2022
Summary
The court affirmed termination of the respondent-father’s parental rights because clear, cogent, and convincing evidence supported the findings that he had neglected the child and that neglect was likely to recur if the child were returned to his care. The court relied on the father’s failure to complete parenting services, lack of suitable housing, lack of income, and other circumstances showing insufficient progress. Because one statutory ground supported termination, the court did not reach the separate ground involving willful failure to correct the conditions leading to removal.
