Nevada Supreme Court

Eivazi v. Eivazi

October 5, 2023

Summary

The court affirmed the decree's interim spousal-support arrears, insurance-proceeds allocation, and order to sell the marital home, but reversed and remanded several financial awards. It held that adopting a party's proposed decree verbatim is not itself an abuse of discretion, but the district court abused its discretion by improperly finding marital waste, inadequately analyzing alimony, awarding attorney and expert fees without sufficient findings, and unequally allocating community debt. The court directed the district court to reevaluate the affected awards and make particularized findings under the governing legal standards.
