Summary

The Court affirmed Johnson’s negligent-homicide conviction and sentence. It held that the prosecutor’s closing comments did not warrant a mistrial or discretionary plain-error review, that Johnson’s ineffective-assistance claim could not be resolved on the direct-appeal record, and that the consecutive weapon enhancement was authorized in addition to the persistent-felony-offender sentence. Johnson may pursue the ineffective-assistance claim in postconviction proceedings.
