Summary

The Court granted supervisory control and held that Montana lacked specific personal jurisdiction over Southwest because the third-party claims did not arise from Southwest transacting business in Montana and did not involve a tort accruing in Montana. Southwest manufactured the product outside Montana, sold it through an out-of-state distributor, and did not contract with a Montana entity for the product at issue. Because the state long-arm statute was not satisfied, the Court did not reach whether jurisdiction would comport with federal due process.
