Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court
Carolyn Zaleski vs. Stephen Zaleski
August 1, 2014469 Mass. 230
Summary
The court upheld the award of rehabilitative rather than general-term alimony because the wife was expected to become self-sufficient through reasonable efforts within five years. It held, however, that the alimony calculation had to include the husband's bonus income and that the record did not support requiring the wife to maintain substantial life insurance for the husband's benefit. The court affirmed the property and debt division, vacated the insurance requirement, and remanded for recalculation of alimony.
