Proximate cause requires evidence of both cause-in-fact and legal causation, and the plaintiffs failed to show that the alleged violations of the youth-concussion statute were a but-for cause or substantial factor in causing Sydney Walton’s injuries. The Court therefore affirmed summary judgment for the defendants.
