Supreme Court of Kansas

In re N.E.

September 9, 2022516 P.3d 586

Summary

The court affirmed dismissal of the grandmother's appeal for lack of appellate jurisdiction. It held that the challenged June order concerned nonappealable placement, that any challenge to kinship-placement restrictions had to be timely brought from the earlier temporary-custody order, and that post-termination custody orders were not appealable under the governing statute. Justice Standridge, dissenting, would have treated the post-termination custody orders as appealable dispositional orders.
