Supreme Court of Iowa

Bradshaw Renovations, LLC v. Barry Graham and Jacklynn Graham

May 2, 2025

Summary

The court held that the homeowners’ evidence did not establish a prohibited practice under Iowa’s consumer fraud statute because the alleged billing misrepresentations were made after the contract and were not shown to have induced reliance in entering the transaction. It therefore reversed the consumer-fraud damages and attorney-fee awards. The court affirmed the rejection of the contractor’s unjust-enrichment and quantum-meruit claims because the written contract governed the subject matter and required written documentation of scope changes. No separate opinions were filed.
