Supreme Court of Iowa

Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board v. Ta Yu Yang

May 3, 2024

Summary

The court found that Ta-Yu Yang violated multiple trust-account recordkeeping, withdrawal-notice, and false-certification requirements, but it did not find a violation based solely on his maintaining approximately $1,000 of firm funds in the trust account. Although the grievance commission recommended a sixty-day suspension, the court imposed a thirty-day suspension and required four hours of trust-accounting continuing legal education before any resumption of practice. The court also declined to require Yang to hire a bookkeeper or practice under another attorney's supervision.
