Supreme Court of Georgia

Chapman v. the State (two Cases)

July 1, 2025

Summary

The Supreme Court of Georgia affirmed the convictions of Yaquan Chapman and Jordan Watson for murder and aggravated assault. The Court rejected Chapman’s claims of trial‑court error, ineffective assistance of counsel, and insufficiency of the evidence, and likewise rejected Watson’s analogous claims. All asserted errors were found either not preserved, not an abuse of discretion, or lacking prejudice.
