Pittman v. State

Summary

The Court affirmed Pittman’s convictions for malice murder and arson. It held that forensic and eyewitness evidence sufficiently identified the burned remains as the victim, that the District Attorney did not have to be disqualified because the prior representation was unrelated and ended years earlier, and that evidence of later fires was irrelevant to third-party guilt. The Court also held that Pittman failed to preserve his mistrial claim and, alternatively, failed to establish plain error.
