Summary

The Court affirmed Morris’s malice-murder conviction, holding that the evidence was constitutionally sufficient for the jury to find that he fired the fatal shot and proximately caused the victim’s death. The Court also held that the evidence authorized the jury to reject as unreasonable the alternative hypothesis that another participant fired the fatal bullet. The Court concluded that the State was not required to prove conspiracy or party-to-a-crime liability because the evidence supported Morris as the direct perpetrator.
