Jones v. State

Summary

The court held that the evidence was constitutionally sufficient to support Jones’s felony-murder and firearm convictions and that the directed-verdict motion was properly denied. Any error in admitting portions of Jones’s recorded interview concerning his silence was unpreserved and, at most, harmless plain error because the evidence was cumulative and the proof of guilt was substantial. The court also found no plain error in the trial court’s response to the jury note, but vacated the aggravated-assault conviction because it merged into the felony-murder conviction.
