Summary

The Court affirmed Early’s convictions and sentences, holding that the jail video was admissible under the evidence rule and that its admission did not constitute plain constitutional error. The video’s brief depiction of Early in jail attire and handcuffs was not unfairly prejudicial, and his statement that he was “a murderer” was highly probative. The Court also held that aggravated assault did not merge into either the vacated voluntary-manslaughter verdict or the felony-murder conviction predicated on firearm possession.
