Supreme Court of Georgia

Lyons v. State

June 1, 2020309 Ga. 15

Summary

The court affirmed Lyons’s convictions and most of his sentences, concluding that the challenged jury instructions, evidentiary rulings, and alleged trial-counsel deficiencies did not warrant relief. It vacated the separate sentence for aggravated assault against Babb because that offense was the aggravated-assault felony underlying the felony-murder conviction and involved no deliberate interval between the acts. The court also independently determined that the evidence was legally sufficient to support the convictions.
