Butler v. State

Summary

The Court held that the evidence was legally sufficient to support Butler's murder and firearms convictions, including the rejection of his self-defense claim. It nevertheless vacated the convictions because the trial court applied the wrong standard when admitting Butler's prior felony conviction for impeachment, and the State failed to show that the error was harmless. The case was remanded for the trial court to reconsider admission of the prior conviction under the correct standard. All the Justices concurred.
