Summary
The Court held that the statutory requirement for a trial-court certificate of immediate review is jurisdictional when an interlocutory order is not otherwise immediately appealable. It overruled the prior judicial exception allowing appellate courts to bypass that requirement absent a colorable federal or state constitutional claim, and dismissed Duke’s application because the trial court issued no certificate. The previously entered stay would dissolve upon filing of the remittitur.
