Griggs v. State

Summary

The court affirmed Griggs’s felony-murder conviction and life-without-parole sentence. It held that the trial court properly entered judgment on felony murder predicated on possession of a firearm by a convicted felon rather than on voluntary manslaughter because that possession was not integral to, or mitigated by, the provocation underlying the manslaughter verdict. The court also independently concluded that the evidence was legally sufficient to support the convictions.
