The court amended Florida's speedy-trial and formal-charge rules, effective July 1, 2025. The amendments make the speedy-trial period begin when formal charges are filed, require a 30-day recapture period, and generally make rule-based discharges without prejudice unless a constitutional speedy-trial violation is found.
