Supreme Court of Florida
In Re: Amendments to Florida Rule of Juvenile Procedure 8.265
August 22, 2024392 So. 3d 789
Summary
The Supreme Court of Florida amended Florida Rule of Juvenile Procedure 8.265 to require a party to raise in a motion for rehearing any claim that a final order lacks required findings of fact in order to preserve that claim for appeal. The amendments align the juvenile rule with corresponding civil and family-law procedures and take effect January 1, 2025. The Court also clarified that filing a rehearing motion does not toll the time for appeal.
