Supreme Court of Florida

In Re: Amendments to the Florida Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration and the Code of Judicial Conduct

November 17, 2022

Summary

The Florida Supreme Court, acting on its own motion, amended the judicial-branch records rule and Code of Judicial Conduct to address records held by judges and justices when judicial service ends. The amendments require departing judicial officers to deliver judicial-branch records to the chief justice or chief judge and expressly state that former judges are expected to maintain the confidentiality of nonpublic judicial information. The amendments became effective immediately, subject to a seventy-five-day period for public comments.
