Supreme Court of Florida

In Re: Amendment to Florida Rule of General Practice and Judicial Administration 2.215

May 12, 2022346 So. 3d 1097

Summary

The Supreme Court of Florida amended Florida Rule of General Practice and Judicial Administration 2.215(b)(4) on its own motion. The amendment removes the requirement that a requesting circuit chief judge obtain approval from the chief judge of the circuit from which a temporary judge would be assigned, thereby placing the request with the Chief Justice and avoiding the appearance that the requesting court selected the outside judge. The amendment became effective immediately, subject to a seventy-five-day period for comments.
