Summary
The Court amended multiple judicial-conduct and procedural rules to permit a senior judge who provides mediation, arbitration, or voluntary trial resolution services in a circuit to preside over criminal cases in that circuit. The amendments preserve the prohibition on presiding over civil cases in a circuit where the senior judge provides dispute-resolution services and retain disclosure, consent, certification, and other safeguards intended to prevent actual or apparent impropriety.
