In Re: Amendments to the Rules of the Supreme Court Relating to Admissions to the Bar - Rules 1-22.1 and 1-23.1

February 13, 2020

Summary

The Supreme Court of Florida adopted, with minor revisions, amendments to Bar Admission Rules 1-22.1 and 1-23.1 governing qualifications for attorney and public members of the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. The amendments require attorney members to be active Florida Bar members with five years of immediately preceding active membership and require public members to hold an academic bachelor’s degree; both categories must be deemed qualified by the Court to assess applicants’ eligibility for admission. The amendments became effective immediately upon release.
