Summary
The Court adopted new professional-conduct and family-law procedural rules governing collaborative law in family-law matters, as required for implementation of the Collaborative Law Process Act. The rules require informed consent, disclosure of expected fees and costs, a written participation agreement, screening for coercive or violent relationships, procedures for initiating and terminating the process, and disqualification of collaborative counsel from related litigation. The amendments were adopted with modifications and made effective July 1, 2017.
