Supreme Court of Florida

In Re: Amendments to the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar (Biennial Petition)

June 11, 201540 Fla. L. Weekly Supp. 330

Summary

The Supreme Court of Florida granted the Florida Bar's biennial petition in substantial part and adopted amendments to numerous Rules Regulating the Florida Bar, effective October 1, 2015. The Court declined to adopt proposed changes eliminating annual trust-account compliance certificates and proposed notice provisions addressing suspensions begun before approval, instead adopting its own amendment prohibiting a consent judgment from allowing discipline to begin before court approval. The Court also amended additional rules on trust-account freezes, reinstatement, confidentiality, diversion, professional responsibility, and contempt proceedings.
