Summary
The Supreme Court of Florida adopted amendments broadening the Florida Court Interpreter Rules to cover nearly all spoken-language interpreters working in court and court-related proceedings. The amendments require registration, extend professional-conduct and disciplinary requirements to all covered interpreters, and give preference to certified and language-skilled interpreters in selection and retention decisions. The Court retained the requirement that an interpreter must have passed, rather than merely taken, an equivalent examination in another state for an examination waiver.
