Summary
The Supreme Court of Florida adopted a new rule requiring electronic-mail service of pleadings and documents in most Florida court proceedings and amended numerous procedural rules to conform to it. The rule requires attorneys to designate service email addresses, establishes formatting and timing requirements, and preserves limited exceptions for excused attorneys, certain formal notices, subpoenas, and self-represented parties. Mandatory email service was delayed in criminal, traffic, and juvenile trial-court divisions until electronic filing became mandatory there.
