Rembert v. State

Summary

The Court held that Rembert's two prior drug-dealing convictions qualified as violent felonies for purposes of enhancing his firearm-possession sentence. Although the drug-dealing statute was amended in 2019 to change its subsection designations, the violent-felony statute still referred to the former subsection when Rembert committed the firearm offense in 2023. The Court therefore affirmed the ten-year mandatory minimum sentence.
