Supreme Court of Delaware

Reed v. State

October 24, 2025

Summary

The Court affirmed the denial of Reed’s motion to correct an illegal sentence. It held that the sentencing judge did not make factual findings that increased either sentence beyond the applicable statutory range, so the jury-finding requirement for facts increasing the prescribed sentencing range did not apply. The Court also rejected Reed’s constitutional challenge to life imprisonment without parole based on his age at the time of the offenses.
