Summary

The Court affirmed Taylor’s conviction for possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, holding that the evidence was sufficient for a rational factfinder to conclude that he possessed the firearm found beneath the driver’s seat. Taylor’s observed movement toward the floorboard, together with the gun’s location, supported either actual or constructive possession despite the required inference concerning the unpreserved marijuana bottle. The Court also held that Taylor’s acquittal on the separate concealed-carry charge did not undermine the firearm-possession conviction because the offenses have different elements.
