Summary

The Supreme Court of Delaware affirmed Strickland’s convictions for possessing a firearm and ammunition as a person prohibited. It held that the surveillance video directly proved the charged possession offenses and therefore was not subject to the character-evidence rule requiring a sua sponte limiting instruction; in any event, the failure to give one was not plain error. The court also held that admission of a defense witness’s additional firearm-related felony convictions did not warrant reversal because the trial court’s balancing was adequate or, alternatively, any error was harmless.
