Summary

The Court held that the Family Court improperly treated the Wife’s premarital wedding-related debts as marital debts because the statutory exception for property acquired in contemplation of marriage is limited to certain premarital real property. The Court affirmed the denial of the Husband’s claim to a share of the Wife’s business because the record supported the Family Court’s conclusion that the claim was barred or unsupported. The judgment was therefore affirmed in part, reversed in part, and remanded.
