Supreme Court of Delaware

Miles v. State

September 7, 2018

Summary

The Court affirmed the denial of Miles’s motion to correct his habitual-offender life sentence. It held that the later statutory reclassification of attempted PWID did not invalidate the predicate felony convictions because PWID qualified when Miles committed the offense and was sentenced. The Court also concluded that, independently, the Superior Court was required to impose life imprisonment for attempted first-degree murder. No separate opinions were filed.
