Summary

The Court affirmed the summary dismissal of Williams's first postconviction motion because it was filed in the wrong criminal case and, in any event, was untimely under Rule 61(i)(1). Williams did not establish any applicable exception for a jurisdictional claim, particularized new evidence creating a strong inference of actual innocence, or a retroactive new constitutional rule. The Court also warned that repetitive and untimely filings could result in restrictions on future appeals.
