Supreme Court of Delaware
Stanley v. State
June 4, 2015
Summary
The Court affirmed the denial of Stanley's postconviction motion after independently reviewing the record under the plain-error standard. It held that his challenge to the knowing and voluntary nature of his guilty plea was procedurally barred and, in any event, not supported by plain error; it also rejected his ineffective-assistance claim concerning advice about a presentence investigation as conclusory and speculative. The Court found the appeal wholly without merit and granted postconviction counsel's motion to withdraw as moot.
