Summary

The court held that a specific unanimity instruction adequately protected the defendant's federal constitutional right to a unanimous jury verdict when each sexual-assault count alleged multiple instances of the same statutory offense. The constitution did not additionally require the trial court to submit sua sponte special interrogatories identifying the particular instance on which the jury unanimously agreed. The convictions and sentences were affirmed.
