Summary
The court held that police did not conduct a Fourth Amendment search by collecting DNA from a discarded belt in their lawful possession or by analyzing that DNA through an STR test limited to identification. It also held that the Connecticut Constitution provided no greater protection under these circumstances and that the jury was not misled when a flowchart omitted the kidnapping factors because the complete factors appeared in the charge and the court instructed that the flowchart was only a guide. The judgment of conviction was affirmed.
