Supreme Court of Connecticut
In re Andrew C.
May 19, 2025351 Conn. 784
Summary
The court held that the foster parents' permissive intervention in the dispositional phase of the neglect proceeding was within the trial court's authority and did not implicate subject matter jurisdiction. Because the 2021 guardianship judgment was not jurisdictionally void, the father's motion to open it, filed more than four months after notice of judgment, was untimely. The court reversed the Appellate Court and directed reinstatement of the foster parents' intervention and guardianship judgment; no separate opinions were filed.
