Supreme Court of Connecticut
Stiegler v. Meriden
February 6, 2024348 Conn. 452
Summary
The court held that the plaintiffs were not required to exhaust administrative remedies before bringing their contract action because the pension plan established no administrative process for seeking recalculation of pension benefits. On the merits, the court held that the operative contractual documents did not require recalculation of voluntarily retired firefighters' pensions to reflect a retroactive wage increase awarded after retirement. The court therefore reversed the judgment on the breach of contract claims and directed judgment for the defendants on those claims.
