Supreme Court of Connecticut
State v. Williams
August 13, 2024350 Conn. 363
Summary
The court held that the evidence was sufficient to support the murder and firearm-possession convictions because the physical evidence did not make the state's theory physically impossible. It nevertheless reversed and remanded for a new trial because the trial court applied the standard for lay identification testimony rather than the standard for expert testimony when excluding the defendant's video-analysis expert, and the error was not harmless. The court also upheld the admission of limited gunshot-residue evidence.
